Bio
Andy Van Der Maaten graduated from Drake University Law School in 1985, Order of the Coif (top 10% of the class). Andy was a Notes Editor on the Drake Law Review from 1984 through 1985, and had a Case Note and a Note published in the Drake Law Review in 1983. Andy was admitted to the Iowa Bar and to the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Iowa in 1985.
Andy has been practicing law with the Anderson Law Firm since July of 1985. Presently, his practice involves general civil litigation, real estate work and serving as a mediator. A good share of his practice is also spent representing Winneshiek County as its County Attorney. Andy has served in that role since January 1, 1995. Andy is currently the senior partner for this firm.
In his free time, Andy and his wife, Karen enjoy traveling, cooking, gardening, golfing, biking and other outdoor activities. They attribute the love of the outdoors to having grown up on farms in Northwest Iowa. Andy still appreciates the work ethic and the values instilled by having that ag background.
It has been and remains Andy’s belief that our firm is here for the sole purpose of serving our clients. This has been a value that has been instilled in the attorneys and staff for as long as he has practiced with this office. We look forward to serving you.
